Where does it go after we flush the toilet, empty the sink, take a shower or do laundry?<\/em><\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;420&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;22px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Wastewater drains into a community\u2019s sanitary sewer system, an underground network of pipes that leads to the wastewater treatment plant. At the wastewater treatment plant, the used water is \u201ccleaned\u201d by several treatment processes and returned back to the environment to be used over and over again.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]Sewers are designed to take away used water from sinks, baths, showers, laundries and toilets. Flushing away \u201cunflushable\u201d items such as garbage, paper towels and disposable wipes causes blockages in sewers, which leads to backups and adds to the cost of operating and maintaining your sewers and the\u00a0treatment plant.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;]<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebmastp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/plant2.png\" class=\"\"  alt=\"Where clean water begins\">[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u201cDisposable\u201d does not mean flushable.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Disposable is a product for single use that can be recycled or thrown away after it is used. Most baby wipes and adult wipes are not flushable because they stay intact in water and don\u2019t disintegrate like toilet paper. They should be thrown away in a trashcan. Other items such as rags, towels, diapers, kitty litter, cigarette butts and \u00a0unused medicines should be disposed of properly \u2013 in the trash![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] To Flush or Not to Flush?
